Obituary of Muriel A. Goggin

Muriel A. Goggin Muriel A. Goggin, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born August 28, 1929 in Oneida, a daughter of Raymond and Bertha Sykes Adey, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1947. Muriel was united in marriage to John M. Goggin, in St. Leo's Church, Holland Patent; he died February 18, 1995. She was employed at Rome Strip Steel and later at Dr. Edwin Russell's office, retiring after many years of service. She was a member of the Methodist Faith. Muriel is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Ann and Robert Arutt of Cary, NC, and Cynthia (Cindy) Goggin of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Lorna and Richard Froschauer of Westmoreland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, John Goggin and a brother, Franklin (Scoop) Adey. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michelle Adey Fund.
