Obituary of Edward E. Martin
Edward E. Martin, age 86, of Verona, passed away April 20, 2011, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center.
He was born July 17, 1924, in Rome, a son of Edwin E. and Ruth Maurer Martin, and educated in Rome schools. Ed was united in marriage to the former Eleanor Larrabee, on September 28, 1946, in Westernville; she died August 2005. He formerly owned and operated Martin's Garage in Verona. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Ed loved music and dancing. He "called" Square Dancing and played "Bass" in area country bands, including the Country Tones and Mad River Band.
Ed is survived by a daughter and son in law, Darlene and John "Buck" Hobin of Barneveld; a sister, Harriet Benn of Lee Center; two brothers and sister sin law, Chester and Donna Martin of Lee Center, and Frederick "Bud" and Joan Martin of Lee Center; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and a longtime friend, Leona Bistrovich. He was predeceased by a son, Edward E. Martin, a stepson, Paul Howard; three sisters, Ruth Martin, Alcina Sherwood and Ella Manley; and a brother, Francis Martin.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 7:30 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Lee Valley Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Monday, 4 to 7:30 PM, prior to the funeral service.
