William K. Schultz William K. Schultz, age 90, of Durhamville and Largo, Fl., passed away at his home in Florida, November 14, 2010. He was born September 27, 1920, in Syracuse, a son of George and Ruth Lloyd Schultz. William was united in marriage to the former Eunice J. Taylor, on November 29, 1941; she died on December 2, 2007. He was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a life member and former Chief of the Stanwix Heights Volunteer Department, and a member of Sylvan Beach American Legion Post 1153. William proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He served under Gen. George Patton in the 3rd Army, 80th Division, and fought and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, African-Mediterranean- European Campaign Medal and American Campaign Medal for his service. He returned to Europe in the summers of 2009 and 2010, to participate in the Battle of the Bulge reunion, and had scheduled his plans for the summer of 2011. William is survived by a son and daughter in law, William K. II, and Kathy Schultz of Rome; two daughters and a son in law, Karla and Jamie Carr of Tucson, AZ, and Terri Hackett of Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters. The funeral service will be held Friday at 4:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in North Bay Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 1 to 4 PM, prior to the funeral service.
