Obituary of Francis P. Mantelli

Francis P. "Bud" Mantelli, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully, September 12, 2012, with his family at his side. He was born June 25, 1931, in Rome, a son of Ralph and Kathleen Kaier Mantelli, and educated in Rome Schools. Francis was united in marriage to the former Rose Marie Conroy on June 27, 1953, in St. Peter's Church; she died May 14, 1999. He formerly worked at Rome Tobacco Co. and later Special Metals, retiring after many years of service. He was a member of St. Peter's Church. Bud was truly a family man and cherished all the great time spent with his family. He was a life-long Yankee fan and NASCAR fan. Bud is survived by five daughters and four sons in law, Crystal Seoane of Cleveland, Cindy and Jerry MacConnell of Chittenango, Sandy and Paul Bunal of Floyd, Valerie and Michael Slachciak of Rome, and Kathleen and Dean Sharron of N. Syracuse; two sons and daughters in law, Francis Jr. and Debbie Mantelli of Camden and William and Debra Mantelli of Rochester; three sisters and brothers in law, Mary and Michael Fazio of Canoga Park, CA, Marlene And Harry Schrefer of Rome, and Kathleen and Tony Stevens of Rome; four brothers and three sisters in law, Ralph and Sylvia Mantelli of Ilion, Robert and Barbara Mantelli of Rome, William Mantelli of Rome, and Paul and Sue Mantelli of Rome; 19 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut and 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Relative and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday 4 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
