Arlene K. Babcock, age 68, of Taberg, passed away August 14, 2010, with her loving family at her side. She was born December 13, 1941, in Rome, a daughter of Leon and Luella Starks Vaughn, and educated in Rome schools. Arlene was united in marriage to Norman R. Babcock, September 23, 1961, in the First United Methodist Church in Rome. She formerly was employed by Holiday Inn and Family Inn. Arlene's true joy and love was her family. She enjoyed crocheting for the entire family and working in her vegetable garden. Arlene is survived by her husband, Norman; a daughter and son in law, Sandra and Toney Carro of Taberg; two sons and a daughter in law, Norman R. Babcock, Jr of Clinton, and Jerry and Jodi Babcock of Taberg; two sisters and brothers in law, Karen and Herman Strife of Rome, and Grace and Victor Carr of Manquin, VA; seven brothers and sisters in law, Marshall and Jane Vaughn of Boonville, Leon and Stephanie Vaughn of Carthage, Bruce and Leona Vaughn of Carthage, Mark and Kathy Vaughn of Carthage, Truman and Charlene Vaughn of Rome, Gary and Chris Vaughn of Rome, and Dewayne Vaughn and companion, Wendy of Rome; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by three sisters, Donna Davis, Barbara Rumbles and Lydia Dufney and a brother, Richard Vaughn. Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
