Obituary of Amelia A. Granieri
Please share a memory of Amelia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Amelia (Amy) Granieri passed away peacefully at dawn on August
17th, with her daughters by her side. She was two days shy of her 87th birthday, and still exuded a beauty and vitality that were a marvel to behold. A true born and bred Rome girl, Amy attended RFA, and later worked at Pettibone, (then, "Fork and Hoe"), Revere Copper and Brass, the original Candy Land Restaurant, and much later, at Friendly's.
Amy was a devoted wife to husband, Michael S. Granieri, Jr., her husband of 50 years, separated by Michael's death in 2000. She was a kind and loving Mother to her "Four Flowers"-her surviving daughters: Debra, Michelle, Bonnie and Marilyn Granieri, all of whom share in Amy's wonderful sense of humor and faith in the power of Love . Amy was also a proud Grandma to her Australian grandson, Jake M. Granieri Taylor, who carries on Amy's great passion for family and music. Besides her daughters and grandson, Amy is survived by her two sisters, Caroline Izzo, and Barbara Caramella, her dear brother-in-law, Alex Kowalewski, her beloved nieces, Rose Mary Kowalewski and Mary Ann Rizzo, nephew, Albert Izzo, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Amy loved to travel, venturing often to the U.S. West Coast, Europe, and as far afield as Australia. She adored her family and social gatherings-wherever there was music, fun, laughter and adventure. Amelia also enjoyed creating a welcoming and beautiful home and flower garden.
Amy's joyous smile, great sense of humor, and sweet nature, warmed and cheered strangers, friends and family alike, and will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Entombment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
