Raymond C. Baynard - Rome Raymond C. Baynard of Lake Delta passed to his eternal rest on March 26, 2010, after a long illness Mr. Baynard was born to Polish immigrants, Julia Jastrzebska and Antoni Bejnart, on February 28, 1927 in New Britain, Connecticut. The family moved to Richfield Springs, New York, and he attended Van Hornsville High School, he graduated as valedictorian and class president in 1944. Mr. Baynard entered the Marine Corps to serve out the end of World War II. Raymond Casimir Attended and graduated from Pratt Institute in New York City, in 1950, where he majored in commercial art. He retired from Griffiss Air Force Base as a technical illustrator where he designed aircraft for the military. Mr. Baynard met and married his true love and life partner, Helen Melnick on August 3, 1957 in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. They remained happily married for nearly 53 years. Mr. Baynard is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter and son in-law, Julie and Robert Figat; and son and daughter in-law, Raymond and Beverly. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Katheryn, Trevor, Kevin, Gregory and Christopher. Mr. Baynard is also survived by his sister, Helen White, brother in-law Francis Melnick and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Baynard was predeceased by brothers, Stanislaw, Edmond, a sister, Jean, God-son, Frederick, nephew, Jason and niece Christine Mr. Baynard was a passionate fisherman and gifted artist who created wonderful works on various mediums. A proud man of Polish heritage, he was a member of the Polish Home, Polish Independent Club and Ukrainian American Veteran's Club. Raymond was a communicant of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church where he served as a trustee for many years. He was especially proud to be a life-time member of Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department. His love for his wife and family and sense of humor will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10AM at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday 3 to 7 PM. Parastas Service will be Sunday at 6:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
