Obituary of Michael J. Moskin

Michael J. Moskin, Sr., age 93, of Floyd, formerly of Quaker Hill, Ava, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2019, at Rome Memorial Hospital, with his loving family at his side.

He was born October 3, 1925, in Rome, a son of the late Andrew and Doris Moskin. His family settled on Quaker Hill and started the family farm. Michael left school to help his dad with the farm and eventually bought the farm from his dad. He was united in marriage to Marie Kowalchuk on May 17, 1953, in Rome. He along with his sons, Michael Jr., and Thomas, ran a successful dairy farm, "Moskin Farms" until July 2017.

Michael was a stoic man that loved the land, farming and his family with his heart and soul. Throughout his career he served on several dairy committees, making many long-time friends along the way.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie; a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Donald Roberts of Floyd, with whom he resided; a son and daughter in law, Michael Jr, and Sally Moskin of Rome; grandchildren, Zachary Roberts, Renee Matt and Phillip Moskin. He was predeceased by two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Henderson and Andrea Kuhner; a son, Thomas Moskin: three sisters, Susan, Mary and Katherine; and four brothers, Michael, John, Alex and Peter.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 4 PM.
