Obituary of William C. Fedun

William “Wink” C. Fedun, age 98, of Rome, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2019, with his loving family at his side.

 

He was born July 22, 1920, in Rome a son of the late Samuel and Anastasia Chomo Fedun, and graduated from Rome Free Academy.  Wink was united in marriage to the former Josephine Zmudowski on September 25, 1948; she died December 11, 2018.  He worked as a supervisor in the Communications Group at Griffiss Air Force Base.  He proudly served in the Arm Air Corps during World War II.  He was a member of the America Ukrainian Veterans and Men’s Club and the Rome Elks Club. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed the many friends he made in the different bowling leagues over the years.

 

Wink is survived by daughters and sons in law, Karen Reed of Poland, Joann and Gary Grasso of Surfside Beach, SC, Gloria and Gary McReynolds of Rome, Victoria and Timothy Money of Canadaigua, Laurie and Joseph Brognano and Linda Shields and Christopher Froio of Rome; grandchildren, Timothy and Jennifer Reed, Jennifer Reed, Kristin and Brandon Heck, Trevor and Chrissy Money, Kelsey and Robert Mauro, Douglas and Lauren DeCarlo, Amanda DeCarlo, Kayla and Chris Cataldo, Samuel Shields and Nicole McReynolds; and great grandchildren, Charlie, Finley, Elin and Mya.  He was predeceased by two brothers and their spouses, Nicholas and Veda Fedun and John and Anna Fedun.

 

The funeral service with Military Honors, will be held at Wednesday at 2;00 pm, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street.  Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

 

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wink’s name to St. Jude’s Research Hospital or the American Ukrainian Veterans and Men’s Club.
