Barbara H. Guy, 87 of Vero Beach, FL—formerly of Bradenton, FL, and Rome, NY, passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Barb was born in Glens Falls, NY on July 16, 1931, daughter of late Marge and Ivan Harris. At a young age, Barb moved to Rome where she graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1950. She worked for many years at the Beeches in Rome and at the Sheraton in Utica. After retiring, Barb moved to Bradenton, FL where she enjoyed golfing and spending time with her dear friends.
Cherished by her family, Barb is survived by her beloved sons and daughters-in-law Gery Guy, Sr. (Deb) and Timothy Guy (Sue), daughter and son-in-law Kimberly Otte (Joe), and her beloved brother, J. William "Bill" Harris who she jokingly referred to as Baby Billy. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 11 (soon to be 12) great-grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Guy, Sr. and son Richard "Bones" J. Guy, Jr., as well as her siblings Robert Harris and David Harris.
Barb will be sorely missed, respectfully remembered with gratitude for the fun-loving woman she was, and she will continue to be loved beyond measure.
A burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lee, NY on Saturday, July 20 at 1pm and a celebration of life will be held the same day from 2-5pm at The Back Nine Restaurant on Turin Rd. in Rome, NY.
