Gerald B. (Jerry) Leppert, 63, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2010. He was born in Rome, on March 27, 1946, a son of Francis and Gertrude Leppert. After graduating from RFA, he served 4 years in the US Navy, spending one year in Vietnam. After returning from military service, he attended various colleges and later became and electrical engineer, employed at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where he worked until his retirement in 2001. On September 13, 1986, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret R. (Peggy) Bartolotti in Rome. All who knew Jerry, became friends with him instantly. Jer had a way of making you feel like you had known him for years and welcomed you with open arms. He loved life to the fullest and had a passion for golf and working on his home. His golf outings with his "Fleppert League" was something that he looked forward to every week; that and the Guiness! His true pleasure was traveling with his wife and enjoying all that life had to offer. They walked hand in hand on many beaches and treasured each other's company to the fullest. Many wonderful memories were made and will always be in the hearts of all the people's lives he touched. Jer was a patient, caring, loving man and will be missed by many. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; one stepdaughter and her husband, Sheri and Rob Waller of Ava, one stepson, David Bartolotti of Apopka, FL. he also is survived by one sister Debra Christman of Rome; two brothers and a sister in law, Ronald and Linda of Yucaipa, CA, and Richard of Holland Patent; brother in law and sister in law, James and MaryAnne Willett; 3 granddaughters, Hanna and Haley Waller and Gianna Bartolotti; five nieces and nephews and two great nieces and a great nephew. He was predeceased by one sister in law, Nancy Graves Leppert. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Drs. Tallim, El-amir, Alicia DeTraglia and Goel for their care and concern. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM Contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
