Kathleen A. Stevens, age 75, of Rome, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019 at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.
She was born September 7, 1943, in Rome, a daughter of the late Ralph and Kathleen Kaier Mantelli, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Kathleen married Joseph Vendetti on December 16, 1964; he died on January 25, 1982. She later married Anthony F. Stevens on June 21, 1986, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church; he died on March 7, 2015. She formerly worked in the medical offices of Dr. DiCastro and later, Dr. Goel. She was a member of St. Mary's/St. Peter's Parish.
Kathleen is survived by a son, Joseph Vendetti of Rome; a stepdaughter, Deborah Stevens of Columbus, OH; a sister, Marlene Schrefer, of Rome; a brother and sister in law, Robert and Barbara Mantelli of Rome; a brother and sister in law, Paul and Sue Mantelli of Rome; a sister in law, Sylvia Mantelli of Schuyler; a grandson, Hunter Tennyson; a special niece, Deborah Meade; dear friends Fran Ruane of New Jersey, Lilly DiCastro of Rome and Cheryl Desantis of Rome, as well many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Mantelli, Francis (Bud) Mantelli and Bill Mantelli; a sister and brother in law, Mary and Mike Fazio; a brother in law Harry Schrefer; and a nephew, Barry Schrefer.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
