Dear RoAnn and Family: It has been many years since we have been in touch, but I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your wonderful husband. My mother always sends me articles about your political accomplishments so, needless to say, she sent me Chris' obituary, too. It sounds like he had a life that was lived to the absolute fullest; we should all be so lucky and so committed! You are in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. God bless you all. Love, Kathy

To RoAnn, Christopher and the extended Destito family, we send our sincere condolences and our thanks for sharing this wonderful man with us and with the community. Many will note the special things Chris did for the entire region, but what always has stood out in our minds is that Chris truly appreciated what others contributed. That attitude inspired others to do more. We hope these heartfelt memorials offered by his friends and peers will inspire another generation of citizens. Chris was a leader. He set a standard that will make Rome a better place today and tomorrow. Good bye, Chris. We miss you.

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with the Destito family during this most difficult time. As a fellow Roman, I know how Rome can touch the hearts of people who grew up there. Christ Destito was a person who wanted to make a difference and put Rome and the Mohawk Valley on the map. He truly completed that task. I so enjoyed watching his cooking show. It was so interesting to hear the stories behind the recipes. I will miss seeing his kind face and seeing the enjoyment he showed as he listened to the stories and contributed his own about his family cooking. The people of Rome and the Mohawk Valley have lost a true icon. May his memory stay alive through our efforts to continue what he loved to do. Help each day to engergize Rome, New York and the Mohawk Valley to become the beautiful area that is has always been.
