I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. McMonagle was a huge inspiration to me both through my relations with him in scouting, as well as my interaction with me as a guidance counselor at Holland Patent. My prayers are with you.

Dear Ellen and Family, John was the most amazing man in many aspects. His quite and subtle in all of his accomplishments through out his entire life. But his love for his family was never was never undefined. How many times I heard the story of your surprise wedding or about a grandchild, daughter, or son, whether his or step or married into. He was always so proud of his family. He was my mentor, my solid rock in many times, never wavering from the goal, "Vocus don't get off track" his words made the issues seem so manageable. Please know that he will be missed in my heart as "the man that taught me" and his love for his family he shared so often. I will forever remember his spirit of "can do" and will always appreciate his support.

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to Ellen and the family on John's passing. John and I were friends as guidance counselors and brother Elks. John was at Holland Patent Central High School while I was at South Lewis and for a much longer time at Adirondack Central High School. In the late 60's we were instrumental in the Mohawk Valley Personnel and Guidance Association. I was President for a year followed by John for a year. John loved his students and did his very best to help each and every one. Having been born and brought up in Rome, I knew Joan Kirkland before and after she married John. I believe I know Ellen Pouliot McMonagle who, I believe, lived on the road in back of Pennystreet Road where my family lived. I offer my prayers for Ellen and John's extended family in this time of grief. John was a true family man and a caring human being.
