Obituary of James R. Peterson

James R. Peterson, age 72, of Panesi Avenue, passed away August 20, 2009, after a long illness. He was born June 17, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, a son of Willard and Gladys Hammond Peterson, and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. Jim was formerly married to Arlene Peterson. He formerly operated J. P. Services. He also operated a cleaning service and taught refrigeration at MVCC. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Jim could fix anything and was always willing to help anyone. He enjoyed bowling and cherished all the friends he made over the years. Jim is survived b a son James M. Peterson and his fiancée, Alba Martinez of Rome and Utica; four sisters and a brother in law, Laverne Williams of MD, Margaret and Chuck Williams of Rome, Barbara Richardson of OH, and Ellen Peterson of AZ; a brother, Harry Peterson of CO; a former daughter in law, Jackie Peterson; grandchildren, James D. Peterson, Kyle Peterson, Nieco Peterson, step-grandchildren, Edwin Guzman, Shannon Warren, Roger Guzman and Jada O'Brien; and 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 5 to 7 PM, prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society
