Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Gubbins
Joan Elizabeth Gubbins born April 23, 1927, in Clinton, Ind., passed away, Saturday, June 26, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, James & Ruth (Hastings) Harper; a sister, Joyce E. Harper; two brothers, James E. Harper, and Jackie E. Harper; her dearly beloved husband, John Francis Gubbins; and son, John M. Gubbins Sr.
They had 10 children: Mrs. Jacqueline Snyder, Mrs. Joyce Kieffer, John M. Gubbins Sr. (Jo), Joni Medlin, Mrs. Jennifer Cull (Herb), Mrs. Janice Race (Charles), Ms. Justine Gleasman, Ms. Joelle Gubbins, Mrs. Janine Smith (Robert), and Ms. Julie Gubbins. They had 39 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. They also had many loved friends.
She served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. She was a member of the WAAC (Women Army Auxiliary Corp). She also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her late husband.
She leaves this life with no regrets. She has had the best of everything.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 12 – 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8650 Turin Road, Rome, NY. A graveside service will be following at the Rome Cemetery, 1500 Jervis Avenue, Rome, NY.
Gather at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following service. All are welcome
