Obituary of Marilyn J. Moore
Marilyn J. Moore, age 87, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021.
Marilyn was born in Rome on June 12, 1933 to the late Francis and Vella Weber, and educated in the Rome Schools. On April 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Fred F. Moore at St. Mary’s Church in Rome; a blessed union of 54 years until his passing on December 23, 2006. Marilyn worked as a librarian in the Rome School district for several years.
During her life, Marilyn surrounded herself with friends and family at every opportunity. She was an avid bowler and loved to bake daily. In her spare time, she knitted for all her children and grandchildren. During the summer months and holiday seasons, she loved entertaining family and friends at the lake house in North Bay. Marilyn was an avid Yankee fan and watched every game she could later in life.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Fred (Deborah) Moore III of Victor, NY, Stephen (Virginia) Moore of East Greenbush, NY, Kevin (Lisa) Moore of Cleveland, NY, Randall (Laureen) Moore of Canton, OH, and Thomas (Christina) Moore of North Bay; grandchildren, Fred (Maija) Moore IV, Meredith D’Amico, Michaela Moore, Stephen Moore II, Timothy Moore (Licia), Julie (Michael) Smith, Marybeth (Glen) Hannum, Jennifer Moore, Thomas (Erin) Moore II, Gregory (Leila) Moore, Jeffrey (Ashley)Moore, and Daniel(Annie) Moore; great grandchildren, Gabriella, Olivia, Samantha, James, Alex and Evan, Haley, Aubrey, Karley , Brandon, Skylar, Garret, and Connor, Amelia, Austin, Andrew, Hannah and Emily ; niece and nephews, Robert, Kenneth, Cathy, and Richard; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, William and (Mary) Weber; a nephew, William “Billy” Weber; and her brother-in-law, Robert Moore.
Marilyn’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 11 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Reception to follow.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 to 11 AM prior to the funeral. Per the CDC’s revised guidelines, those who are fully vaccinated no longer are required to wear a facial covering, but may do so if desired. Those who have not had their vaccines are still required to have a facial covering.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
