Obituary of Laverne H. Rowling

Laverne Howard Rowling, age 74, went to be with his Lord on August 27, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Laverne was born on March 18, 1941 to the late Laverne and Vivian Rowling Schlegel. He graduated from the Practical Bible Training School (Davis College) and Faith Baptist Bible College. In 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Joyce Ross. Laverne served the Lord and his community as a Baptist minister, retiring while at Skyline Baptist Church in Rome, NY.
Laverne enjoyed overhauling old tractors as a hobby and tinkered with auto mechanics. He learned to fix most anything, usually out of necessity.
Laverne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce; three sons and daughters in law, Daniel and Christine Rowling of Horseheads, NY, Timothy and Lori Rowling of Rome, NY, and Jared and Tammy Rowling of Richmondville, NY; seven cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Paige, Joshua, Rebecca, Anna, and Andrew; and a sister, Jackie Rowling. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosetta Schlegel; and two brothers, Norman and David Schlegel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Skyline Baptist Church, Rome, NY. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in East Pembroke, NY.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Waterville Baptist Church or the Skyline Baptist Church.
