Obituary of George W. Roe
George W. Roe, age 80, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 at Rome Health.
He was born December 21,1943 in Rome, a son of the late Clarence and Blanche Burkhart Roe, and educated in Rome schools. George was united in marriage to Dorothy W. Dutcher on March 3, 1961. He worked as a groundskeeper and maintenance at Rome Memorial Hospital, retiring from there after many years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

George is survived by his children, Laura Roe-Fenton of Rome, Julia Roe and fiancé, Kris Speed of Vancleave, MS, April Holeck of Rome, and George Roe, Jr. of Rome; grandchildren, Amanda, Aric, Kayla, Brianna and Aiden; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter, Roxanne Roe, sister Julia Canfield, brothers, Richard Roe, John Roe, Sam Roe, Robert Roe, and Howard Roe.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, at 7:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery on December 4, at 11 AM (pending snow).
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM, prior to the funeral service.
