Obituary of Patrick D. Stackhouse

Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patrick Douglas Stackhouse, of Rome, NY, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 4, 1970 in Binghamton, NY.

Pat graduated from Central Baptist Christian Academy in Binghamton where he was on the soccer team as well as the basketball team. Pat also particpated in many extra curriclar activities including the yearbook staff, the snackshop team and the drama department.  Pat attended Broome Community College and then graduated from Geneva College in 1992. During his time at Geneva, Pat was fortunate to be a part of the Aviation Club, which allowed him the opportunity to travel to many new areas and he was employed as a meter maid to earn a little extra spending money while away at school.

As a young man, Pat helped with his dad's businesses, Southern Tier Delivery and Southern Tier Filter Clean. Shortly after graduating college, Pat was given the opportunity to work at the Wyoming Conference Children's Home in Binghamton, as a care giver for underpriveledged and troubled children. As Pat's stature was "larger than life", he was assigned to the teenage dormatory, working with the largest of personalities and children in the home. Time spent at that facility helped Pat earn many certificates and learn many skills that he would be able to utilize later on in his career.

In 2000, Pat made the exciting move to Myrtle Beach, SC, where he began work as an independent contractor at The Sun News as well as working at Enterprise Car Rental. Working at those places gave Pat life long friends and countless adventures.

In 2002, Pat had the remarkable chance to move to Italy to work with Saints Equipped to Evangelize as their chef for a year. During his free weekends, he would explore the country and take in all of the sights of such a beautiful place.

After many years of attending, volunteering and helping at Delta Lake Bible Conference Center, Pat was given the opportunity to become a full time staff member in 2007 as the camp cook and "as needed" waterfront director.  Delta Lake was the beginning of a beautiful love story as that is where Pat met his incredible wife, Jennifer. That story continued with three amazing sons, Evan, Daniel and Timothy. Even until his very last moments, Pat would look at Jenn with complete adoration and tell her that he loved her. Pat was blessed to be surrounded by his loved ones when he passed.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Stackhouse, and three boys, Evan, Daniel & Timothy. He is also survived by his mother; Erma Stackhouse, his sisters; Debbie Stackhouse and Kim Wilson, his in-laws; Gary & Darlene Croniser, his brothers in law; Gary (Rebecca) Croniser and Ryan Croniser, and nieces & nephews: Kolyn Stackhouse, Emma Wilson, Nikolas Stackhouse, Jocelyn Wilson, Ruby Croniser, Piper Croniser, Owen Croniser,  Josephina Croniser, Knox Croniser, Garrison Croniser and Nathaniel Croniser. Pat is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, friends and loved ones. We can't name all of them as this extended obituary would turn into a novel.

Patrick was predeceased by his father, John Stackhouse, we can't name all of the extended family or again, this would turn into a multi-chapter book.

The family would like to thank the special friends who have spent countless hours stepping in and helping over the past two years. The camp friends, church family, medical teams and loved ones provided comfort in so many ways and we will always be grateful for that.

Patrick was always a jokester, smartastic character and fun loving personality to all who knew him. Although that was aggravating to some, if you were part of "his team" you knew exactly what that meant and how much he cared for you. Pat had the heart of a servant, a true example of the way others should respect, care and treat each other. There was no judgement and you were always welcome at his table. Pat led by example, not only with sarcastic words, but also with his actions. To know him was to love him, to love him was to be annoyed with him, and if you were annoyed with him that meant that he must have loved you enough to pick on you. As you see his children and family grow over the years, please continue to remind them of the fun stories and impacts Pat had on their lives. Those incredible adventures are what will help them keep the celebration of Pat's life continuing.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rome Alliance Church on Turin Rd on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 AM. We ask that you please wear a mask. For those unable to attend in person a live stream will be on the Rome Alliance Church Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/romealliance/ In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delta Lake Bible Conference Center or to the families gofundme page https://gofund.me/a2a44268
