Obituary of Karen M. Kobito
Karen M. Kobito, age 67, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2021, at home.
Karen was born in Rome on July 22, 1954, to the late Charles and Eileen Hyde Mehl. She received her associates degree in nursing from MVCC. On July 2, 1977, she was united in marriage to Bruce A. Kobito. She worked for 37 1/2 years at Rome Hospital, retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed going to garage sales, working in her flower garden, and decorating for the holidays. She was also an avid Yankees fan. Above all her greatest joy was to be the biggest supporter for her children in all that they did.
Karen is survived by her husband, Bruce; her daughter, Melissa Kobito of Rome; her sons, Brian Kobito of Rome and Michael Kobito of Victor, NY; her sisters, Lou (Dave) Salmon, and Sandy (Terry) McAleese; several nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Beverly (Chris) Nichols; and her brother-in-law, Bobby (Kim) Kobito. She was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Mehl; and several aunts and uncles including a special uncle, Joseph "Dody" Hyde.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
