Obituary of Lisa R. Modell
Lisa R. Modell, age 55, of Rome, went home to the Lord on August 9, 2021,
Lisa was born September 2, 1965, in Dallas, TX, a daughter of Ronald and Phyllis Schiff Modell. She was educated in New York City schools and MVCC. She was most recently employed by NYS DSS. She took great pride in her job, those she worked with and the community she served. Lisa was a recovering addict and never once forgot it. She was a proud member and advocate of Narcotics Anonymous and through her children and the NA community found sobriety on September 1st 2002. She would be celebrating 19 years clean this year. She was proud of her journey and dedicated her life to helping others conquer addiction. She was the very best shoulder to cry on. Her love, courage and wit were contagious and her hugs will be missed the most.
Lisa is survived by her Father and Stepmother, Ronald and Kathy Modell, many brothers and sisters and her children, Heather and Joe Brockway of Blossvale, Robert and Sarah Arensman of Rome, and Phillip Arensman of Rome; her grandchildren who were her life, pride and joy, Casper, Kerrin, A’Miracolo, Alayah and Ariella. She was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis Modell in which she is reunited with once again.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 17th from 2 to 4 with services to follow at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. A celebration of life will be held at Mount Zion Church of Rome following her services from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. All are asked to attend.
Relatives and friends are encouraged to come and share their testimonies of Lisa.
The family asks that those in the journey of addiction please continue her legacy of sobriety and find strength in her memories and words of wisdom. She will forever cover us in her blanket of love and follow us through our days. She will be missed immensely.
