Obituary of Cathy A. Nelson
Cathy A. Nelson, age 69, formerly of Rome, went home to the Lord and was welcomed by her husband, Peter on July 17, 2021. She passed away in comfort and dignity surrounded by her loving family and friends, at the Presbyterian Home after a long illness.
She was born June 5, 1952, in Rome, a daughter of the late William and Isabell Erenwein LaMont, and educated in Rome schools. Cathy was married to Peter Nelson; he died some years ago.
Cathy is survived by a daughter, Connie (Barry) Wurst, and grandson, Samuel Wurst, all of Chandler, AZ; special step-son, Keith Garcia of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Marylin (John) Kennedy of Auburndale, FL, Gail LaMont of Timberlake, NC, Sherrie (David) Kingwater of Floyd, and Patricia King of Ocala, FL; brothers, Lee (Cheryl) Proper of Upland, CA, William (Carla) LaMont of Clinton, WA, Dennis LaMont and Edward LaMont both of Rome; and several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by brothers and a sister, Gary Proper, Joey Proper, Francis LaMont, Ernest LaMont and Linda Anderson.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of the Presbyterian Home Elm Unit, for their care, compassion and friendship extended to Cathy during her illness.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
