Obituary of Ryan Jon Hoel

Please share a memory of Ryan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deepest sadness, the family of Ryan J. Hoel, 21, announce his passing on May 25, 2021, in Plano, TX.  Ryan graduated Winfree Academy, Richardson, TX, Class of 2018, and entered the US Marine Corps at Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA, completing both boot camp and infantry training.  Ryan was a creative writer, an avid Manga reader, a lover of martial arts, sky diving, and physical fitness.  He was a descendant of the Gwich’in Athabaskan Tribe of Alaska. Although Ryan’s time here was brief, his spirit touched many.

He is survived by his mother, Megan Murphy (Paul Cathey) of Plano, TX, and formerly of Rome; father, Jon Hoel of Dallas, TX; brothers, Lukas and Jaden; maternal grandparents, Mary Lou Murphy (Charles Ciereck) and Raymond Murphy (Barbara); and paternal grandmother, Patricia Peters, Alaska.  Additionally, he is survived by special uncles, Christopher (Lisa) and Michael (Rick Dable) Murphy; and special cousins, Mikayla and Sarah Murphy; Justin Brigandi; and Elisabeth Brigandi-Newell. A vast network of loving family and countless friends, including the Wallace family of Sachse, TX, also mourn Ryan’s passing.

Ryan is predeceased by grandparents, Jim and Suzanne Hoel, Washington State; and step-father, Jeff Parry, formerly of Rome.

Graveside services are planned for Saturday, June, 19, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rome, with Celebration of Life to follow at the VFW, Washington St, Rome. All are invited to attend. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed for all guests’ safety.

Memorial donations are welcomed in Ryan’s honor, and for all those who suffer depression, at the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, 199 Water Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10038.
