Obituary of Ida M. Bloomfield
Ida Mae Bloomfield (nee Wilson) age 86, of Tularosa, NM and formerly of Rome, passed into eternity to meet her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2021 at the Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, NM with family at her side. Prior to her passing, Ida resided at her home in Tularosa, NM.
Ida was born in Rome on November 29, 1934 to the late Delos and Eliza Boyer Wilson and grew up on their 60-acre farm located on Dix Road, Rome, NY. She married Charles Bloomfield and together they had eight children, four boys and four girls, which they referred to as the Bloomfield bunch. She worked as a nurse’s aide for several years and afterwards as a homemaker. Ida enjoyed poetry and even had her own copy written works. Ida loved to grow a large vegetable garden every year until she could no longer physically maintain one; her son Jeremy then grew the garden for Ida. Ida had a personal relationship with Jesus and enjoyed reading her Bible until she could no longer read due to her eyesight. She enjoyed listening to Christian media and talk shows as well as sharing what the Lord did in her life.
Ida is survived by seven of her children in order as follows: David (Janet) Bloomfield of Fayetteville NC, James Bloomfield of Tularosa, NM, Sandra Roseberry of Peyton, CO, Judith (Robert) Crossman of Youngstown, FL, Mary Andia of Pikesville, MD, Christine (Jeffery) Zakris Carpenter of Canastota, NY, and Jeremy Bloomfield of Tularosa, NM. Ida had 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Daniel Bloomfield.
Ida’s funeral will be held on Friday, March 26 at 2 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. A private burial will be held at the Rome Cemetery, immediately following the funeral services, where her parents, her only sibling, Philip Wilson, and son are laid to rest.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 PM on Friday and attend the funeral services officiated by Pastor Jeffery Carpenter of Friendship Baptist Church. Those attending are required to have a facial covering and only a limited number of people will be allowed in at a time.
