Obituary of Rosemary Spriggs
Rosemary E. Spriggs, age 69, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2020, with her family at her side.
She was born November 22, 1950, in Rome, a daughter of the late Robert and Eileen VanDresar Spriggs. Rosemary graduated from Rom Catholic High School, earned a bachelor degree from SUNY Utica/Rome and a master degree in Business Administration from SUNY Empire State College. She worked for many years and retired as Dep. Director of Administrative Services at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica. She later worked at ARC and UCP. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.
Rosemary was a very generous soul who often spoiled her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved to visit and dine with her many friends and colleagues. Rosemary also gave of her time to many charities and community events. She also loved lifetime movies and shopping on QVC. You could often find her at Vernon Downs or Turning Stone trying her luck at the slots. She will be missed as she has touched so many lives.
Rosemary is survived by her nieces, Denise and John Fair of Nokesville, VA, Donna and Rick Smith of Rome, and Diane Rivera of Rome; a brother in law, Donald Wold of Rome; 8 great nieces and nephews; 6 great great nieces and nephews (and 2 on the way); and many cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Deborah Wold.
A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Bernard Menard, will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Church.
Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Friday, from 4 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Cancer Society or United Cerebral Palsy, Utica chapter.
