Obituary of Peggy Berndt
Peggy Ann Berndt, age 71, of Verona, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2020, after a long illness.
Peggy grew up in Lakeland, NY, attended Solvay High School, graduated from SUNY Upstate University Hospital as a registered nurse, and went on to become a nurse practitioner. She served as nurse manager at Upstate Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit; then managed the pheresis unit at America Red Cross in Syracuse. In more recent years she provided medical-legal consulting to local lawyers and worked with Life Legacy to coordinate organ transplants.
Peggy was an avid bird watcher who loved nature and animals, especially her dogs. She was passionate about all kinds of music and found great joy in singing. She was beautiful in every sense of the word, had a brilliant mind, engaging personality and was outrageously funny. She will be sorely missed by her family.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marion (Jennings) Berndt. She is survived by her beloved husband, Hon. Patrick MacRae, JSC; her stepchildren, Bridget and Patrick, Jr.; her sisters, Sharon Bouscher of Everett, WA, Linda McPherron of Camillus, and Cathy “cybie” and Donald Mauro of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to count.
Funeral services will be private.
