Obituary of Karen M. Matt
Karen M. Matt, age 81, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2020, at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehab Center.
Karen was born in Rome, on March 20, 1939, to the late Robert and Martha Duff MacFarland, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. On January 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Stanley W. Matt; a blessed union of 59 years until his passing on December 4, 2014. Karen worked as a developmental aide for the CNY DSO, retiring after over 30 years of service.
Karen was a member of the Lee Center Seniors. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world and brought her much joy and happiness.
Karen is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Matt of Rome; two sons, Stanley Jr. (Judy) Matt of Lee Center, and Steven (Roberta) Matt of Ava; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Jane Roberts and Lois Tripp.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Betsy Ross for their care and compassion shown to Karen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 6 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM, prior to the funeral. Everyone must wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines.
