Obituary of Betty Jane Spiker

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty Jane Spiker, age 84, of Rome, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in Oakley, MD on September 11, 1935 to the late William and Elizabeth Becker Webb, and was educated in the Baltimore, MD schools. On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Heewannah “Keith” Spiker, a blessed union of 51 years until his passing on October 13, 2006.

Betty was a woman of prayer, and loved God, family, and friends with her whole heart.  She also loved her church, the Rome Christian Center, and Pastors Ned and Sue Paquette, and all of its members.

Betty was an Air Force wife and homemaker who travelled all over the country with her family, making each new location home.  She loved to make the holidays special and cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She was a member of the Lee American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Ron) Crill of Lee Center; her son, Michael (Donna) Spiker of Fort Mill, SC; her grandson, Brian Young; and her nieces, Kathy (Ernie) Ott, Eileen Kern, Patty Biri, and Joanne (Rick) Bell. She was predeceased by her sister, Gertrude and brother-in-law Joe Brehany.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents on Wing 4 at the Grand for their care, compassion, and friendship shown to Betty and the family.  You all treated her like one of your own, and the family will be forever grateful for your kindness.

Funeral services will be private at the family’s convenience.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
