Anna B. Smith, age 92 of Rome, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022.
Anna was born in Rome on August 14, 1929 to the late Leo and Bertha Havener Burton, and graduated from Saint Aloysius Academy. On November 27,1952, she was united in marriage to Neal F. Smith; a blessed union of 38 years until his passing on June 3, 1990. Anna was employed with Bank of America for 17 years.
Anna was a member of the DAR and St. Peter’s Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and knitting. She was amazingly creative and made many beautiful things for her home. Anna was always curious and enjoyed learning about new things and places. In later years she was able to travel various places with her friends at the Ava Dorfman Senior Center, including her favorite trip to Italy. Anna played bridge with her friends at the senior center regularly until her health declined.
Anna was known for her smile and was loved by her friends and family. She will be missed.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Gail Sacco of Chandler, AZ, and Valerie (Daryl) Kessler of Boonville; her son, Daniel (Lucie) Smith of Chelsea, MI; grandchildren, Kelly Sacco, Erin Kessler, Sara Kingsbury, Lisa (Daniel) Tubbs, Jason Kessler, and Katie Kessler; great grandchildren, Brandon, Warren, Gavin, Nolan, Lana, Theodore “Teddy,” and Alexander "Sasha"; her sister, Margaret (Frank) Glasso of Rome; her brother Alfred (Carol) Burton of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on July 22, 2022 at 1:30 at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
