David A. Engelbert, age 77, of Rome, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021, with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 29, 1943, in Rome, a son of the late Clarence M. and Arlene Zingerline Engelbert. He graduated from Rome Free Academy (1961) and Hartwick College (1966). David was united in marriage to the former Martha “Muff” Fowler, on April 17, 1971, in Lowville.

He proudly served on the board of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rome Community Foundation. In 2019, David was recognized as a founding member of the Rome Community Foundation.
David is survived by his wife, Muff; children, Mark and Maureen Engelbert of Rome, and Sarah and Mark Rushton of Rome; a brother and sister in law, Bruce and Kay Engelbert of Rome; and his cherished grandchildren, Grace, Cooper, Grady, Jack and Ethan.
